Doctors treat CMML and MDS nearly the same. There are only a few published studies on the causes of CMML. This is due to the fact that CMML was just recently classified separate from MDS/MPN. There is no dispute that benzene causes myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).

There are several options for the treatment of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia, including chemotherapy, radiation, and stem cell transplants. The type of treatment available to patients is dependent on factors like the severity of the disease and the patient’s age.
